Lake City has made history after electing its first African American woman as mayor. Mayor Yamekia Robinson was a councilwoman for two years before becoming mayor. She stated that her transition has been smooth so far and that her time as councilwoman properly prepared her for a head start in her new position. Robinson took no time to wait before starting a roundtable community conversation that allows members that reside in the area to bring their concerns to elected officials. The first one is set to be held on Saturday and will continue to be held every quarter.
