Vehicle Drives In Wrong Direction During Police Chase

The chase reached 135 mph and the suspect passed oncoming traffic multiple times nearly colliding with other cars.

On Monday afternoon a police chase reached over 100 mph as a car traveled down Highway 31 in the wrong direction.

An Horry County Police officer reported to the O’Reilly Auto Parts on Highway 9 after a car had been parked in a turn lane in front of the store for 20 minutes.

Upon arrival, the officer discovered a man was asleep in the car. As the officer knocked on the window, the driver was frightened, threw the car in drive and sped towards Sea Mountain Highway.

The chase reached 135 mph and the suspect passed oncoming traffic multiple times nearly colliding with other cars.

The suspect drove to Robert Edge Parkway and proceeded to drive up the exit ramp on Highway 31 driving Southbound in the Northbound lanes.

The chase ended after the officer lost sight of the suspect’s vehicle.

It is unclear at this time if the driver has been arrested in the case or not.
