The Food Recovery Network is coordinating a campaign to save leftover food from game day instead of letting it go to waste.
As thousands of people are set to gather at the stadium, an abundance of food will be stored and prepared for sale at concession stands.
The network is a non-profit that was founded by students in 2011 to “combat food waste on college campuses” and they are making their third attempt to rescue Super Bowl Food.
Food waste has been an on-going issue at the game and throughout the country, but the rise in food insecurity during the pandemic has shown the problem in a different light.
The non-profit is expecting to collect nearly 3,000 pounds of food from this years Super Bowl event.
