New Package To Ukraine Includes Longer-Range Missiles
This marks the first security package since the U.S. committed to providing M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine last month.
A new security package for Ukraine is expected to be worth billions.
The package is approximately $2.2 billion and includes longer-range missiles for the first time. The U.S. will provide Ukraine with the Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb, a guided missile with a range of 90 miles.
The missiles will double the range of Ukrainian weaponry but won’t include a long sought after ATACM’s missile. The U.S. has turned Ukraine’s request for that system down due to concerns that they may be used to hit targets deep inside of Russia.
