Ambulance Thief Remains In Jail

The ambulance belongs to Coastal Medical Transportation and was stolen from nearby Conway Medical Center just minutes before the crash.

In December a video captured a stolen ambulance crashing in a field near Burning Ridge Road off of Highway 501.

A Coastal Medical Transport employee took a patient into the Medical Arts building for an appointment and when she returned, the ambulance was gone.

After the ambulance crashed, several people called in a description of the man driving.

34-year-old, Albert Hickman was arrested and charged with grand larceny, reckless driving, and driving under suspension. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Hickman remains detained on a bond of almost $18 thousand.
