Ice Storm In Parts Of The South Causes Power Outages
Almost 400 thousand homes and businesses were without power as of Thursday morning.
An ice storm has frozen parts of the South.
At least eight deaths had been connected to the storm, which covered parts of the South from Texas to Tennessee. Seven of those were in the lone star state, while a person driving a truck died in Benton County, Arkansas, after sliding on ice.
Many Texas residents are without power as the frigid temperatures have caused tree branches and limbs to break and fall on power lines. Almost 400 thousand homes and businesses were without power as of Thursday morning.
An additional quarter inch of ice is expected to pile onto the already frozen roads Thursday.
As the storm moves across the country, wind chills could also plunge to 50 below zero in the Northeast.
