The Trump Corporation and the Trump Payroll Corporation were convicted last month of 17 felonies, including tax fraud and falsifying business records.

Two Trump Organizations were fined the maximum possible penalty for running a decade long tax fraud scheme.

Two Trump Entities, the Trump Corporation and the Trump Payroll Corporation were convicted last month of 17 felonies, including tax fraud and falsifying business records.

Under New York law, the most companies can be fined is nearly $1.6 million dollars. Prosecutors asked Judge Juan Merchan to force the organization to pay the maximum fine while admitting it would not make a huge impact because it is a multi-billion-dollar company.

New York District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, said the fine against the Trump Organization is significant but he wants to assist lawmakers to raise fines for companies that break the law. He does not believe the fine is enough of a penalty.

The Entities have 14 days to pay the fine.

Trump and his family were not personally charged in this case.
