Meta Facing Millions In Lawsuit For Privacy Breach

The Irish Regulator concluded the company's advertising data handling practices breached EU privacy laws.

Facebook’s parent, Meta, is being fined millions after two lengthy investigations were conducted.

The Irish Regulator concluded the company’s advertising data handling practices breached EU privacy laws.

The Irish Data Protection Commission explained meta should be ordered to pay two fines. A $222.5 million fine over violations of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and another fine of 180 million euros in regards to breaches of the same law by Instagram.

The fines combined total to 414 million U.S. dollars.

On Wednesday, a meeting was held and the DPC said Meta is advised to bring its data processing operations into compliance within three months.
