Jan. 6th Committee Drops Trumps Subpoena

The former president no longer has to comply or produce records in response to the subpoena.

The House January 6th Committee is dropping its subpoena of former President Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Chairman Bennie Thompson wrote a letter to Trump’s attorney stating the committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena.

The letter stated that Mr. Trump no longer has to comply or produce records in response to the subpoena.

The committee subpoenaed the former president in October for documents and testimony related to the storming of the capitol investigation. Trump responded to the subpoena by suing the committee.

The committee had previously withdrawn a number of other subpoenas as the investigation draws to an end.

Trump responded to his subpoenas withdraw on Twitter stating “they probably did so because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they were about to lose in court”.
