House Passes “Respect For Marriage” Act

The Act passed 258 to 169 with 39 Republicans joining the Democrats.

On Thursday, the House voted and passed legislation to protect same-sex and interracial marriage.

This was the last step before the bill proceeds to President Biden for his signature which will then confirm the “Respect for Marriage Act” as a law.

The Act passed 258 to 169 with 39 Republicans joining the Democrats.

Last week, the Senate passed the ace with a vote of 61 to 36.

The bill will not set a national requirement that all states have to legalize same-sex marriage. However, it will require individual states to recognize another state’s legal marriage.
