Iranian Patrol Boat Attempted To Blind U.S. Navy Ships

The U.S. Central Command said that the watercraft acted in an "unsafe and unprofessional manner"

An Iranian patrol boat attempted to temporarily blind U.S. Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps” patrol boat shined a spotlight toward the vessels and crossed within 150 yards of them. The U.S. Central Command said that the watercraft acted in an “unsafe and unprofessional manner” and violated international standards for safe maritime behavior.

The U.S.S The Sullivans ship and the U.S.S Lewis B. Puller deescalated the situation by using audible warnings and non-lethal lasers.

The U.S. Central Command said that this dangerous action in international waters is not the first time IRGC vessels have attempted to intercept or harass U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships operating in the region.
