Vice President Kamala Harris Addresses APEC Leaders

Harris pledged further economic commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.

Vice President Kamala Harris, stood in for President Biden as the U.S. representative at the APEC meeting.

During the event, Harris pledged further economic commitment to the Asia-Pacific region. She emphasized that the private sector collaboration is a key priority to the U.S. She said, “the United States is here to stay.”

She continued by saying that strengthening our economic relationships in the region and making alliances with the private sector will remain a top priority for the U.S.

Earlier this year, she reinforced prior economic efforts in the region such as the “Indo-Pacific Economic Framework,” as well as the Group of 7’s, and mobilization of a $600 billion infrastructure investment in the developing world.

Harris also shared that increasing the trade and investments is part of the U.S. blueprint in further engaging the region.
