You’ve probably seen it in your health stores and coffee shops. There’s Matcha shots, lattes, teas and even desserts.  It’s a plant compound in tea that acts as natural antioxidants.  Many studies link antioxidants to disease fighting in cancer.  Matcha also can helps protect the liver and heart.  It’s been said to boost brain function and weight loss efforts.  So what is it exactly?  Matcha comes from the same plant as green tea, but harvested differently.  Farmers cover the plant, keeping it in the shade the last month of growing.   The process increases chlorophyll and boosts the amino acid content.  The plant then gets a darker green hue. The stems are removed and ground into a fine powder and sold.  Having it in powder makes it easy to prepare at home.  Audra shares a recipe she uses.
