Nicole Made Landfall In Florida As A Category 1 Hurricane

Since initial impact, the storm has weakened back to a tropical storm still unleashing heavy rains and strong winds.

As the National Hurricane Center predicted, Nicole made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 Hurricane.

The storm brought winds of 75 miles-per-hour during landfall. It has since weakened back to a tropical storm still unleashing heavy rains and strong winds across central Florida.

The winds have also died down since initial impact and the storm surge is now down to nearly 3 feet with a possibility of up to 6 feet.

Over 1,200 flights have been canceled for today due to the impact of Nicole.

Thousands of residents are without power and some have been advised to evacuate buildings that were previously pounded by Hurricane Ian.
