The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is requesting for the publics help in finding a man who escaped from jail late last night.

25-year-old, Joshua Shoemaker, escaped from the Cherokee County Detention Center between 9:50 and 10:30p.m.

The inmate has been detained since August when he was arrested and charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, pointing and presenting a firearm, as well as assault and battery.

Shoemaker escaped through an emergency door, then proceeded to throw a blanket over the razor wire that lines the top of the fence and climbed over it. He injured himself on the wire leaving a trail of blood which leads to the assumption that he climbed in a vehicle and left the area.

He is “5’11” and 155lbs. Police are asking for any information regarding his whereabouts to contact law enforcement,
