The Judge In The Murdaugh Murder Case Denied Defense Motions

A state circuit judge has denied motions filed by the defense team of Alex Murdaugh.

Murdaugh is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of his wife, Maggie Murdaugh and son, Paul Murdaugh. The defense requested three motions focused on the actions of the prosecutors failure to provide specific evidence that was discovered and planned to use against Murdaugh.

It was argued that the state has already “provided discovery far in excess of what is technically required.” The defense hoped to persuade the judge and force prosecutors to allow them to view evidence that is currently being withheld.

The judge expressed that the state is making a good faith effort by not handing over the evidence and the motion was denied.
