For The First Time, The U.S. Currency Will Feature An Asian American

Wong is the 5th and final woman to be individually featured on a quarter this year.

As part of a program that includes notable women on American quarters, the first Asian American will be featured on U.S. currency.

Actress Anna May Wong is considered the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood. She became the first Asian American lead actor in a U.S. tv show. She was awarded a star on the Hollywood walk of fame in 1960 and she died in 1961 at the age of 56.

Wong is the 5th and final woman to be individually featured on a quarter this year. It will be released into currency Monday and will have George Washington on one side and Wong on the other.
