Donald Trump Ordered To Appear For Deposition
A federal judge has now expedited the case by ordering Trump to sit in a deposition.
After former President Trump’s attempts to delay the case, he is set to answer questions under oath on Wednesday as part of the defamation lawsuit brought by Jean Carroll.
Three years ago, Carroll sued Trump for defamation after he denied her claim that he allegedly raped her in a store in New York in the mid 1990’s. The legal threat increased this year, when Carroll stated her intent to sue Trump. The allegations were made while Trump was at the White House. Trump and the DOJ argued that he was a federal employee and the government cannot be sued for defamation.
Under a New York state law, a victim of sexual assault can sue years after the attack. The case has been up in the air for a more than a year. A federal judge has now expedited the case by ordering Trump to sit in a deposition.
