Officials Responded To Schools Across S.C. Over A “Hoax”

On Wednesday, schools across South Carolina were sent into panic mode after receiving calls reporting threats to facilities. 18 schools across the state received shooting threats called “swatting”. Officials believe this is a growing trend from TikTok where someone calls a school and threatens a shooting. There were several videos posted yesterday by South Carolina students. Children are shown running as well as can be heard screaming and reacting in fear. One video displayed officers actually entering a school with weapons as a response to the threat. Investigators believe the calls may have come from someone in another country. No injuries or actual shootings occurred.
