The technology for a “smart pacifier” is in the works that can monitor newborns’ health in the hospital. Researchers from Washington State University created the item that can check the health of premature babies in clinics. iIt can also tell doctors potassium and sodium levels through the baby’s saliva. Scientists tried out the device on a group of babies. They found the pacifier’s results were similar to those of hospital blood tests, however they say further testing is needed to confirm how well the pacifier works.
