Former Philadelphia Officer Charged with Murder
A judge has ordered he be held without bail.
A former Philadelphia police officer has been charged with killing a 12-year-old boy. Officer Edsaul Mendoza surrendered to authorities Sunday to face murder charges in connection to the shooting death of Thomas Siderio Jr. The boy was shot in the back during a foot chase in march after a shot was fired into an unmarked police car. During a press conference the Philadelphia District Attorney said “It is certain that Siderio at the time he was shot, had stopped running and that he was possibly surrendering.” Mendoza is facing charges that include first and third degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and possession of an instrument of crime with intent. A judge has ordered he be held without bail.
