Ford Issues Recall on Explorers Due to Rollaway Risk

The company says a rear axle mounting bolt in the vehicles can fail.

Ford is recalling models of some of its best-selling SUVs. The car company says a rear axle mounting bolt in the vehicles can fail causing a drive shaft disconnect and the vehicles can roll while in park without the parking break on. About a quarter of a million Ford Explorers made between 2020 and this year are included on the list as well as some police hybrid models. Over 200 warranty claims have already been made on the vehicles. Ford says it’s unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the problem so far.
