Overnight Fire at Abandoned Motel in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach Fire crews are investigating after a fire overnight at the Coral Sands Motel. Crews were called to the scene around 3 a.m. after smoke and fire were seen coming from the building located at 301 North Ocean Boulevard. Crews were able to put the blaze out and no one was thought to be inside at the time. In November, the Myrtle Beach City Council voted to demolish the building after deeming the cost of repairs too high for the value of the property. Officials also cited an ongoing concern about drugs and prostitution at the property.
