Metal Detectors to be Installed at FS1 Middle Schools

Last night during their meeting, Florence one school board members voted to approve the installation of metal detectors in all four middle schools in the district. Superintendent Richard O’Malley said that metal detectors were brought up because of recent violence seen throughout the state. O’Malley said “given some of the things that have happened here in South Carolina, in Greenville-the shooting- I believe this is necessary.” O’Malley hopes to have the detectors in place by the end of the school year.
