House Voted to Refer Mark Meadows to the Justice Department in Criminal Contempt

Speaking of Trump, yesterday the House of Representatives voted to refer former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to the Justice Department for contempt of Congress. The vote was 222-208 and two Republicans who sit on the select committee, Representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois voted with Democrats in favor of the referral which comes after Meadows failed to appear for a deposition with the select committee investigating the riots. On Monday the House select committee unanimously voted in favor of holding Meadows in contempt of Congress and now the Justice Department will decide if it will pursue criminal charges against him. In October, the committee voted to hold Trump ally Steve Bannon in criminal contempt after he refused to comply with a subpoena.
