Committee Investigating Insurrection Releases Report on Meadows
According to a report released yesterday from the committee investigating the Capitol Riots, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows sent an email saying that National Guard troops would be present to ‘protect pro Trump people’ in the lead up to the U.S. Capitol Insurrection. That is just one of the details that surfaced about Meadows’ actions before and during the riots as well as his role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election. The report is a key component for the committee that informed Meadows last week that they had ‘no choice’ but to advance criminal contempt proceedings against him since he no longer is cooperating with their investigation. The committee is expected to meet today to formally advance the report to the full floor house vote as soon as later this week. The vote is the last step needed before sending the referral to the Department of Justice.
