Final Parts of $60 Million Security Assistance Package Set to Arrive in Ukraine

The final parts of a $60 million security assistance package from the United States is set to arrive in the Ukraine this week according to Pentagon spokesman John Kirby. President Biden approved the package on September 1st when Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the White House. Included in the assistance are lethal elements like anti-tank missiles, small arms and ammunition among other things. The package is designed to help with Ukraine’s self-defense capability and comes at a time when Russian troops continue to build up along the country’s border. U.S. officials have watched the situation closely and have been in touch with their NATO and European counterparts to coordinate a response should Russian President Vladimir Putin decide to invade. President Biden also held a phone conversation with President Putin earlier this week.
