President Biden, First Lady Jill Attend 44th Annual Kennedy Center Honors
Last night President Biden and First Lady Jill attended the 44th annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C. The Biden’s reinstated a long standing tradition that was interrupted by former president Trump as he and Melania skipped the 2017, 2018 and 2019 ceremonies due to the political beliefs of the honorees. In 2020, the ceremony was canceled due to the pandemic but scaled down for a smaller ceremony that was held this past May. Last night’s event celebrated the careers of prominent members of the performing arts which included Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Justino Diaz, Berry Gordy and Lorne Michaels. Also in attendance were Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. The President also attended the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors as Vice President. The ceremony that was hosted by David Letterman, it will be televised on December 22nd.
