Wisconsin Christmas Parade Suspect Charged, 6th Victim Identified
New details have emerged surrounding the Christmas parade tragedy in Wisconsin. Another victim has died after Darrell Brooks Jr. careened his SUV into the parade crowd. A child that died last night brings the death toll to six. The victim was one of 16 children who were rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin after the incident on Sunday. According to officials with the hospital, two other children were able to go home on Monday while a total of 13 children remain hospitalized.
Authorities have uncovered details about Brooks’ lengthy criminal record including him being a registered sex offender in Nevada and having an active arrest warrant in the state. He was also released on a $1,000 bond this month after allegedly running over a woman who claims she’s the mother of his child. Brooks was charged yesterday with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the parade incident. But, prosecutors now say they will consider a sixth homicide charge. His bail has been set at $5 million as the judge on his case believes Brooks is a flight risk.
