Suspect in Wisconsin Christmas Parade Tragedy Expected in Court This Afternoon
An update on the Christmas Parade tragedy in Wisconsin… Authorities identified the driver of the red SUV that they say intentionally drove through barricades and into a crowd as 39 year old Darrell Brooks Jr. He is believed to have acted alone in the incident that happened on Sunday and is the only suspect according to Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson. Brooks faces five counts of first-degree intentional homicide, with additional charges based on the investigation. Brooks was released from jail two weeks ago in a domestic abuse case on a $1,000 bail which prosecutors say was ‘inappropriately low.’ According to Thompson, Brooks was involved in a domestic disturbance with another person prior to driving through the parade. Officers were unable to respond to that call because they had to respond to the parade so quickly after receiving it. Brooks will appear in court today at 4 pm and initial charges will be filed while the hearing is live-streamed.
