Biden Set to Announce Six Part Pandemic Plan This Afternoon

President Biden is expected to unveil a six-pronged pandemic plan this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon Biden received a briefing in the Oval Office from his Covid-19 response team. A source familiar to the matter said the administration’s plan will focus on vaccinating the unvaccinated, further protecting the vaccinated through booster shots, keeping schools open, increasing testing and mask requirements, economic recovery and improving care for those diagnosed with Covid-19. According to officials, Biden will specifically make a new push toward mandating vaccines, build upon existing federal worker vaccine requirements and press private businesses to mandate shots for their employees.

This morning it was announced that the President is set to sign an executive order that will require all government employees be vaccinated with no option of being regularly tested to opt out. The President will also sign an executive order directing the same standard be extended to employees of contractors who do business with the federal government, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service and National Institutes of Health will also complete their previously announced vaccination requirements, which the White House estimates covers 2.5 million workers.
