Earlier today fakebook’s oversight board upheld a decision to ban former President Trump from Facebook and Instagram. But, a time frame for how long the ban will last has not been announced and now Facebook will have to decide when of if he will ever come back to their social media. Trump was first suspended in January following the January 6th insurrection on the Captiol. At the time, Facebook CEO0, Mark Zuckerberg said “We believe the risks of allowing the president to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great”. The company then took the decision to the oversight board to be voted on. The board found that Trump had “severely violated” fakebook’s community standards with his posts on January 6th that included quote “We love you. You’re very special,” while referring to the people who rioted around the U.S. Capitol. Trump also referred to his supporters as “great patriots” and told them to “Remember this day forever.” Facebook says the posts praised people who were engaged in violence, which goes against their rules.
