Court Asks for $540,000 Restitution for Conway Man

The court of appeals says the Restitution a man received for work he did at a Conway restaurant was not enough. Originally the courts awarded Jack Smith $272,952 in 2019 for work he was not paid for while working at J and J Cafeteria in Conway from 2009 until 2014. The 2019 ruling said that Smith who has an intellectual disability was forced to work 100 hours per week without pay by the manager, Bobby Edwards. Edwards pled guilty to one count of forced labor and the District Court sentenced him to 120 months in prison. Now, the court of appeals for the 4th Circuit is doubling their original total to 546,000.
