The city of Myrtle Beach faces a lawsuit after a former officer says he was fired over a workers’ comp claim. Former Myrtle Beach officer Michael Dodd filed a claim last week stating he was wrongly fired. Last year Dodd was involved in an incident at work where a colleague hit him in the face and Dodd reacted in a manner that caused him to fall on a table. Dodd was then placed on administrative leave but, the other officer was not. Dodd believes he was the only one disciplined because of a leave of absence he took the previous year for back surgery and was later fired. He’s seeking actual damages from the city in the amount of lost wages and benefits along with future lost wages and benefits.
