Five people were killed, including two children, in a shooting in York County, South Carolina.
Yesterday police were called to the scene at a home in Rock Hill following reports of a shooting at 4:45 p.m. According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the victims included dr. Robert Lesslie & his wife, Barbara, and their two grandchildren aged 5 and 9. There was also another man, James Lewis of Gastonia, who was also killed while doing some work at the Lesslie’s home. In addition to those five, another person was transported to the hospital after suffering gunshot wounds.
Though police have not yet publicly named the suspect, reports say former nfl player phillip adams has been identified as the shooter. Adams’ parents live near the doctor’s home, and he has been treated by the doctor in the past. He was a defensive back for teams including the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons. Reports say that following the incident, Adams shot himself. During a new conference yesterday, York County sheriff spokesman Trent Faris said Dr. Lesslie was well known in the area and started Riverview Medical Center in Rock Hill. He was also the founder of Riverview House Calls & Riverview Hospice.
