April’s “Read Carolina” Picks!

Our producer Olivia reveals her two book selections for April's "Read Carolina."

For April, our producer chose two debut novels to symbolize spring and new beginnings! Our main pick was “The Final Revival of Opal and Nev” by Dawnie Walton. This brand new historical fiction has been described as a very topical, complex, and thrilling debut with flawed and sometimes unreliable characters. It alternates between present day and the early 70’s as a music journalist tries to uncover the truth behind a deadly riot that tore apart Opal and Nev’s band way back when. As the honorable mention, we have “A Room Called Earth” by Madeleine Ryan. This book was chosen in honor of April being National Autism Awareness Month since it is written by an autistic author. It takes place over the course of a day in the character’s life and gives us a unique glimpse into the mind of someone who is neurodiverse! You can purchase “The Final Revival of Opal and Nev” at Amazon or Barnes and Noble. You can also find “A Room Called Earth” at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
