Neera Tanden, White House Withdraw her Cabinet Nomination
The White House has pulled their nomination for the head of the Office of Management and Budget. Back in December, President Biden nominated Neera Tanden to fill the role. She previously worked as an aide to the Clinton campaign and President of Think Tank Center for American Progress. But she received heat during the course of her confirmation process from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. Her biggest scandal included her history of offensive tweets directed towards both Democrats and Republicans which made her a polarizing political figure. Despite deleting over 1,000 posts and offering around 46 different Senators personal apologies, numerous key Senators remained firm in their decision to reject her nomination. The least of which were Joe Manchin, Susan Collins and Mitt Romney. Because of this, Tanden decided to withdraw her nomination and the White House followed suit. This was the first Cabinet-level defeat for President Biden who vowed to find another way to “bring her valuable perspective and insight to our work.”
