Governors Look to Loosen Restrictions with 3rd Coronavirus Vaccine Now in Circulation

Shortly after the first few Americans began receiving the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine, state governors are looking to loosen restrictions. Despite multiple warnings from health experts to keep up safety precautions, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is moving ahead with his own plans. He announced yesterday that effective March 10th, all businesses will be allowed to open at 100% capacity and he will lift the mask mandate. It appears Mississippi will follow suit, with their governor confirming they will do the same. With just under 7% of the Texas population inoculated, this has prompted criticism from many who say it’s still too soon. Fortunately, President Biden had some good news for Americans yesterday as he also announced that the U.S. will have enough vaccines for every adult by the end of may. This is two months earlier than the administration initially predicted. The Biden Administration said it’s thanks to use of the Defense Production Act, as well as their new deal with Johnson & Johnson who has agreed to boost vaccine production by partnering with their rival company Merck.
