An emergency rescue service in the Palmetto state is offering classes to address an EMT shortage.
On March 1, 2021, Guardian Ambulance will be offering the classes in Florence. The Pee Dee Emergency Rescue Service is offering the chance to become an EMT for free in 10 weeks. The company is now accepting applications for the course. Along with free tuition, certification and testing will be provided by Florence-Darlington Technical College. Those interested will be hired as a driver, get paid while in class, and once they’ve completed 10 weeks, they’ll take a test for employment. Those accepted into the program will be fully trained and onboarded to begin working on a Guardian Ambulance upon passing the National Registry exam.
