Woman Fired, Arrested Week After Starting Job as Lake City Officer

A Lake City police officer has been fired after only one week on the job. 33-year-old Kasey Gibbons was also arrested after she was found in possession of two milligrams of a prescription drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. Gibbons is believed to have passed a pre-employment drug screening with the department before her employment began November 2nd. The Lake City administrator said they have a zero-tolerance policy for such activity and that Gibbons’ actions were a betrayal of public trust. She faces charges of possession of a schedule IV-controlled substance and was released from jail yesterday.
