Texas Becomes First State to Report Over One Million Covid-19 Cases

The third wave of the coronavirus continues to devastate the U.S., particularly in the mid and south west. As of yesterday, Texas became the first state to report over a million confirmed cases. They also set the record for highest number of new daily cases with over 10,800. The record was previously established in July by California, which is the nation’s most populous state. In El Paso, one of the hardest-hit communities across the entire country, officials are making arrangements to add at least four more mobile morgues to the additional six they already have as cases and hospitalizations spike.
The U.S. has now recorded more than 10.2 million infections and almost 240,000 deaths. Not a single state is trending in the right direction and 44 are reporting dramatic increases in news cases this week compared to last. Health officials are urging Americans to alter their holiday plans with Washington state becoming the first to enforce restrictions that limit the number of attendees for essential gatherings only. New guidance from the CDC also encourages mask wearing, saying it not only protects you, but those around you.
