Alarming Number of Covid-19 Cases on the Rise in South Carolina
DHEC announced 666 new cases of Covid-19 and 25 additional deaths statewide yesterday. Horry County alone recorded 82 of those cases, the highest number over any other county in the state. A new study conducted by AARP also revealed South Carolina is leading the nation with the most Covid-19 related deaths of nursing home residents per 100 residents. In total, the state is nearing 159,000 cases with almost 3,500 deaths since the pandemic began. Despite these alarming numbers, the Horry County Council voted yesterday in favor of lifting the face mask requirements by the end of this month.
