President Trump, Biden’s Dueling Town Halls Kick Off Tonight

President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden’s dueling town halls will take place tonight instead of the second presidential debate. After the president contracted Covid-19 the Commission on Presidential Debates switched the second event’s format to make it entirely virtual. The decision was based solely on their desire to keep all those involved safe. The president almost immediately refused to participate. This was quickly followed by an announcement that Biden would host his own town hall instead. He’s scheduled to meet with voters and answer their questions tonight starting at 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania, with ABC’s George Stephanopolous moderating. Then yesterday, in a not so shocking twist, President Trump announced he would also hold his own town hall event at the exact same time as Biden’s. His will take place outdoors in Florida with NBC’s Savannah Gutherie moderating. It’s strongly believed the president is attempting to compete with Biden for most viewers, especially after a new national poll revealed he’s trailing behind Biden by double digits.
