Governor McMaster Announces New COVID-19 Safety Requirements
Governor McMaster announced yesterday that some previously recommended COVID-19 safety guidelines are now mandatory. The restrictions include dine-in services operating at no more than 50% occupancy. Employees and customers will now be required to wear masks or similar face coverings. Tables must be spaced at least six feet apart with no more than eight customers per table unless from the same family. Standing or congregating in the bar area of restaurants is also prohibited. Governor McMaster said of the order, “These limited restrictions are temporary…and give South Carolina the best chance to slow the spread of the virus without shutting down the state’s economy – which we cannot and will not do.” All measures will go into effect this Monday.
