“Central Park Karen” Now Faces Charge of False Reporting

The white woman who called the police on a black man bird watching now faces charges. The Manhattan District Attorney confirmed the news yesterday that Amy Cooper, who was dubbed “Central Park Karen”, will be charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. Her and Christian Cooper (no relation) crossed paths on May 25th in the Central Park Rambles. Christian asked Amy to leash her dog, which is required in that area. During their conversation, Amy grew increasingly frantic before calling the police and telling them “there’s an African American man threatening my life.” The entire incident was caught on camera by Christian and went viral online. Amy not only lost her job, but her dog as well. She was also banned for life from Central Park. Amy has officially been issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment October 14th. The Manhattan DA has also encouraged anyone who was the victim of similar incidents to contact their offices.
