President Trump Threatens Actions Against Seattle ‘Autonomous Zone’

President Trump has threatened to take action against Seattle’s ‘autonomous zone’ as George Floyd protests continue there. The ‘Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone’ is an area in Seattle completely occupied by protesters. Officers working in the third police precinct in the center of the area were forced to evacuate and abandoned the building after violence broke out. It’s believed armed protesters have barricaded several blocks surrounding the perimeter of the area. Since the takeover, protests have reportedly been very peaceful. Now the president, along with the Seattle police chief, have become highly critical of city’s leaders, including Mayor Jenny Durkan who ordered the evacuation. Durkan continues to refuse assistance from federal troops to clear out the area, instead allowing residents to continue protesting. President Trump has referred to them as anarchists and threatened to take action if Durkan does not.
