Hundreds Gather for George Floyd’s Memorial Service
Hundreds gathered in Minneapolis for George Floyd’s memorial service, yesterday afternoon. Those in attendance included his family and friends. Celebrities such as Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, and Tyler Perry as well as Senators Amy Klobuchar, Kamala Harris, and more also mourned at the service. Reverend Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy which included messages of hope, called for the reformation of the criminal justice system, and criticized President Trump. The Reverend also announced he’s organizing a March on Washington on August 28th. It will coincide with the 57th anniversary of the previous March on Washington in honor of civil rights. It will be led by the families of those who have lost loved ones to police brutality and are demanding justice for them. Already, the protests now have led to cases such as the death of Breonna Taylor to be reopened for investigation.
