Parents of “Baby Boy Horry” Identified
On December 4th, 2008, an unidentified newborn boy was found wrapped in a bag and abandoned in the woods near Meadowbrook Rd in Conway. He was less than two days old at the time of his death. It’s believed he was born alive and, had he received medical attention, could have survived. Police were unable to determine his cause of death nor who his parents were at the time. Because of this, county officials named him “Baby Boy Horry”.
It was an incident that largely impacted the entire surrounding community. Years went by, several people were cleared of the murder, and the case went cold. But now over a decade later, Baby Boy Horry’s parents have been identified.
Probable cause led police to issue an arrest warrant this afternoon for 32-year-old Jennifer Sahr. She is being charged with homicide by child abuse. Sahr was a student at Coastal Carolina in 2008 when Baby Boy Horry was found. Police believe she is now living in Florida, however they have been unable to locate her. They ask anyone who knows her whereabouts to call them. Law enforcement have also identified Baby Boy Horry’s father and intend to release his information later. Police attribute this break in the case to new scientific evidence.
Baby Boy Horry is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery. He would’ve turned 11-years-old this last December. The Motorcycle group Rolling Thunder adopted him and annually attend an event to honor his memory.
