Pelosi to Hand Over Articles of Impeachment for Senate Trial

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has confirmed that the vote on the impeachment managers will be held tomorrow. Less than a year until the 2020 election and President Trump faces becoming the third president ever to be impeached while in office. Pelosi originally held onto the articles in attempt to dictate the terms of the senate trial. She hoped witnesses called to testify would prove the president is corrupt, unaccountable and unfit to serve. They also hoped to prove the resistance from republicans were blatant cover ups against the president’s malfeasance in order to keep their party in office. However, many believe Pelosi’s efforts will be in vain as the senate is republican majority and the votes are expected to fall along party lines. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seems adamant to start the proceedings as soon as possible and unlikely to provide witnesses during the trial.
