Panthers Place Franchise Tag On Norman
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have applied the franchise tag on Josh Norman, and secured his services for at least one more year.
Norman was an All-Pro defensive back last season and helped lead the Panthers to the Super Bowl. The 28-year-old cornerback will be guaranteed $13.95 million for the 2016 season.
The franchise tag salary is an average of the top five salaries at the position of the player being tagged.
The move secures one of the key players on the Panthers’ highly regarded defense for the 2016 season and allows the team to focus on other needs in the draft and free agency.
